Elizabeth A. Smith

UPTON – Elizabeth A. Smith, 94, of Upton, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of the late Clyde E. Smith, Jr., who died in 1978.

Born in Wayland, she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Althea (Spreadbury) Pierce, and was raised and educated in Amesbury.

Prior to retirement, Mrs. Smith was employed as a mail room clerk for Dennison.

She had many interests, some of which were playing cards with her family at the camp in Maine, traveling, reading, crocheting, knitting, painting, casinos and bingo, but mostly enjoyed her time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Althea Greene of Upton, Michael Smith, Sr. of Upton, Christopher Smith of Worcester, and Jeffrey Smith of Maine; two daughters-in-laws, Kathi Smith of Upton, and Janet Smith of Webster; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by two children, Betty Carol and Albert Smith, and two siblings, John Pierce and Harriet Wales.

Her funeral service was held on Friday, April 21, in the Pickering & Son Upton Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.

Calling hours were Thursday, April 20, in the funeral home.
