AARP Tax Aide Program

The AARP Tax Aide Program returns again this year to help seniors and low-income individuals file their income tax returns for free.

We’ll begin making appointments in mid to late January. Trained volunteer preparers will be able to complete returns for the tax years 2023, 2022, and 2021.

Please note however, that separate appointments are required for each tax year. 

Tax Forms

Both federal and state tax forms will be available in the library entrance (between the double doors) as soon as they arrive from the IRS and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Please note that these forms are often not sent until late January or even early February to accommodate changes. 

Libia Goncalves:

Featured Artist

During January local artist Libia Goncalves will exhibit her artwork behind the Reference Desk. Originally from Columbia, Libia worked as a medical technologist for many years and is currently pursuing a  second Bachelor’s degree in art from Worcester State University. A member Blackstone Valley Artists’ Association (BVAA), Libia is a highly accomplished painter in watercolor, oil and acrylics and has taught in her home studio and also at the library and demonstrated her craft on Milford TV. Libia tells us that , “Painting used to be a hobby, now it is my passion, my obsession, it has become a necessity.” 

Stamp Collection:

Bob Szymanski

Another exhibit happening in January is s stamp collection courtesy of Milford resident Bob Szymanski which can be found in the adult display case. Bob’s been a serious collector for decades and has previously exhibited at the library. A great deal of history, thought and design can be found through 

Philately, the collection and study of postage stamps. 

ESL Drop in Classes 

Free Drop in ESL classes return on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The regular class schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 - 8 p.m.

Center Book Group

The Center Book Group will meet on Tuesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. at the Milford Senior Center to discuss Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Samantha May.

This meditative volume looks at the ways human beings can process grief, illness or other life changes in a manner that is more nuanced than attempting to power through without taking time to rest and reflect.
