‘Everyday Heroes’ scholarship deadline April 20

Four scholarships available in honor of Lucas Denommee

The “Everyday Heroes” scholarship has been established to honor the legacy of Milford High School student Lucas R. Denommee.

Funds for the scholarship were graciously made available by donations to the Lucas Denommee Legacy Fund, whose mission is to spread awareness, provide resources and establish a sense of community to those impacted by mental illness and suicide.

This year, there are four scholarships available. The deadline to apply is April 20. Any and all graduating students may apply for this scholarship, regardless of intentions of furthering their education, their GPA, gender, sexual preference or extracurricular activities.

In order to be considered for one of the four scholarships, applicants must answer one of the following prompts:

1.  Out of the ashes, a hero arose…” finish the rest.

2.  Describe a quote, lyrics, or a piece of art that has had a major impact on you.

3.  Describe how a creative outlet has helped you overcome adversity.

According to www.lucasdenommeelegacy.org/single-project, “Responses to the prompts may be in whichever format the applicant feels demonstrates their abilities best, whether that be an essay, poetry, short story, drawing, painting, a short video, a song, a sculpture, a collage or even an interpretive dance. If your creative outlet is not listed here, by all means submit it! That means your creativity has already ousted ours and that is exactly what we're looking for.”

Responses should be emailed to [email protected] by April 20, 2024.
