Before & After at Always Hair Salon in Milford is a family-owned business that understands what it means to change, while staying true to who you are. Owner Tina Stevens knew when she was in high school that she wanted to be a stylist, but as with many of us who start to plan out our lives, there was a bit of a detour to get there. 

Becoming a single mom in her twenties, she worked in the restaurant industry for a number of years before turning her sights back to her original goal. As fate might have it, her daughter Elisha wanted to become a stylist and mentioned that she would love to work in a salon with her. When one of her daughter’s friends was over and asked her what was stopping her from doing what she really wanted, it really came down to childcare for her youngest.

It’s good to have people in your corner, because when word got out about it, the friend’s mother and some others got together to help with that. So, Tina went to school and got her styling license and started working at a salon, later purchasing All American Clip Joint (which she renamed to Always Hair) and opening the Hair Unlimited and Before & After salons, all of which were very successful. She then decided to put the three salons together, effectively creating a one-stop shop for clientele to make their hair dreams a reality, with stylists that specialize in the whole gamut of color and styling options.

“You get to know your clients so well when they are getting their hair done and you get to talking. I have had people that have been with us so long that I really would call them friends now,” shares Tina.
