MENDON — Nipmuc Regional High School choruses recently participated in the Boston Choral Festival.
On Oct. 25, about 20 Nipmuc singers took the stage at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts in the Back Bay alongside the Cantata Singers. The Arlington and Westborough High School choirs also participated. The performance took place after a day of immersive workshops, where students learned multiple choral movements.
The two-hour concert was a performance of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, and a celebration of the Cantata Singers’ 60th anniversary. The Vespers is a large-scale work scored for soloists, choirs, and orchestras. It allows for a wide range of expression and sound.
The Cantata Singers organized the festival and hope it will become an annual event, with different high school groups participating each year.
"We were delighted to be invited by the Cantata Singers to participate in this year's Boston Choral Festival," Choral Director Simmonds said. "Our students did an exceptional job preparing for the performance and were incredible during the festival."
"I am incredibly thrilled with our students for their performance at the Boston Choral Festival," Mendon-Upton Nipmuc Regional School District Superintendent Maureen Cohen said. "Their hard work, talent, and dedication were evident, and they made our entire school community proud."
