Learn tabletop games this Winter!
Modern tabletop games are a great, screen-free hobby to learn this winter. Assemble a colorful tile mosaic in Azul, or chart the course of history in 7 Wonders! Upton Library hosts a monthly game night where you can come to learn and play, and we also have copies of award-winning games for you to borrow and play at home.
Tabletop Game Night for Adults – Thursday, Dec. 19
Join our tabletop game series for adults! New games are featured each month such as 7 Wonders, Mysterium, and Azul. Meets every third Thursday of the month from 5:15 - 7:30 p.m. Beginners and experienced players both welcome. Register at uptonlibrary.org.
Teen Hangout
Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 - 5 p.m. (New program just for Teens)
Teen Hangout is a time just for tweens and teens! Every Tuesday and Thursday after school, we reserve the Classroom as a space for teens to hangout, play video games and board games, make crafts, read, and more. This is a drop-in program.

Keep This, Toss That - For a Clutter-Free New Year
Virtual Event, Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
New year, fresh start: join Organizing Humorist and bestselling author Jamie Novak as she shares her laugh-out-loud funny approach for what to do with all the stuff – without getting overwhelmed. This event is brought to you in collaboration with the Newton Free Library. Registration required. Please note that this event is virtual and takes place live, it will not be recorded.
Hot Cocoa Pastel Art
Thursday, Jan. 9, 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Ages 12 - Adult
Participants will create a very colorful cup of hot cocoa that includes exciting contemporary art patterns, all while using oil pastels and construction paper. Register online to participate.

Children’s & Young Adult Events
Baypath Humane Society Visit – Dec. 23 at 3 p.m.
Join us as we welcome a representative from Baypath Humane Society, along with a furry friend! Michelle Kreel will speak to us about fostering and/or adopting pets, and how to help their organization. This is a collaborative event with the Upton Senior Center. Ages 5 to 105 are welcome. Pre-registration required.
Movies at the Library – Dec. 26 & 30
Join us for movies in our Greatroom. On Dec. 26, from 5 - 7:30 p.m., we will screen Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, rated PG-13, for ages 13+. On Dec. 30, from 1 - 3 p.m., we will screen The Goonies, rated PG, for ages 8+. No registration required.

Baby Storytime – Fridays at 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Baby Storytime is for ages birth to 3 and is held on Fridays. This is a 20-30-minute lapsit program featuring stories, songs, and nursery rhymes. Pre-registration required.
Preschool Storytime – Thursdays at 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Preschool Storytime is for ages 3 to 5 and is held on Thursdays. This is a 45-minute program featuring stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft. Pre-registration required.
Saturday Storytime – Dec. 14 & Jan. 4 at 9:30 a.m.
Once a month we offer a 30-45-minute Saturday Storytime, blending Baby and Preschool storytimes featuring stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft. Can’t join us for our weekday programs? This event is just for you. For ages 0-5. Pre-registration required.
Music & Movement – Dec. 16, Jan. 6 & 13 at 9:30 a.m.
This program features Deb Hudgins and her Pre-K Sing and Swing. It is an interactive program, perfect for children and their caregivers to enjoy together. Deb plays guitar and sings, and is sure to incorporate stories, dancing, fingerplays, games and more at each of her fun, themed performances. This program is partially funded through a grant with Beginning Bridges CFCE in Uxbridge. For ages 1 to 5. Pre-registration is required.
LEGO Club – Dec. 18 at 4 p.m.
This group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4 - 5 p.m. This group is led by Library Director, Matthew Bachtold, and is for ages 5 to 12. We provide the LEGOs while you have fun building and making new friends. Pre-registration is required.
Kids’ Book Club – Jan. 8 at 4 p.m.
Our book club members explore popular juvenile fiction titles on the first Wednesday of each month from 4 - 4:45.p.m. Due to our usual meeting date falling on New Year’s Day, our meeting has been moved to the second Wednesday for this month. We will be discussing Dory Fantasmagory: Tiny Tough by Abby Hanlon. This group is for ages 8-12. We welcome new members all year round. Pre-registration required.
Tween Book Club – Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m.
This club is especially for our middle grade patrons, ages 10 to 14. This group reads popular middle grade titles selected by our members. This month, we will be discussing the realistic fiction title Willodeen by Katherine Applegate. We welcome new members all year round. Pre-registration required.
Upton Reads Book Group
An eclectic mix of contemporary literary fiction with meetings on the second Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening of each month in the Community Center classroom, with a Zoom remote option.
Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 12:45 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m.: First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston.
Fic or No Fic Book Group
An adult book group led by Librarian Micaela that alternates fiction and non-fiction selections. Meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:45 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6:45 p.m.: The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan.
